What’s the difference between the plans library and full-service drafting?+
Two services. Two different problems solved. The plans library is a subscription giving you access to 240+ residential designs to show clients and market as your own — it’s about the front end: winning clients, speeding up decisions and looking established. Full-service residential drafting is where you brief us on a project and we handle everything through to construction-ready drawings, your plans or ours. Many builders use both. The library wins the client. The drafting delivers the job.
How does the AREI plans library work for builders?+
The AREI plans library gives you access to 240+ residential designs to show clients and market as your own. Pick the ones that suit your build style and your market. Add them to your website and use them in client meetings. When a client downloads a co-branded brochure you get their details — a ready-made conversation starter. We list you on our Builder Hub, so when a homeowner finds a design they love on the Find a Builder hub, they find you. Built exclusively for builders, not homeowners.
Do I need a website to use the plans library?+
No. But it makes the library work a lot harder for you. Without a website you can still use the designs in client meetings, share co-branded brochures and use high-res images across your marketing. Add the plugin to your website and clients browse your designs before they call — they download brochures, self-qualify and show up to meetings knowing what they want. Less explaining. More building. Scale subscribers get help integrating the plugin into their existing WordPress website.
Can I customise the plans for my clients?+
Yes — and honestly it’s one of the biggest reasons builders love the library. Every design can be customised to suit your client’s block, budget and lifestyle. You can use your own drafting team to make the changes, or if you’re on the Scale package our drafting team handles it for you. Either way your client gets exactly what they want. Brennan from Own-A-Home in Tasmania said it best: the library gives clients plenty of options and strong starting points, while still allowing us to customise or create plans from scratch when needed.
Can I rename the plans and add my own pricing?+
Absolutely — you can do both. Every design in the library can be renamed to suit your business and your market. And we always recommend adding your own pricing; even a ‘starting from…’ is enough. It sets expectations before clients call and filters out the tyre kickers before they waste your time. Your brand. Your pricing. Our designs.
Is the plans library subscription month-to-month?+
The plans library is a 12-month subscription. Pay monthly for cash-flow flexibility, or annually for a better rate. 12 months gives you enough time to get the library properly working for your business — designs on your site, brochures in client hands and enquiries coming in. How do builders use the plans library to win more clients?+
Builders use it in three ways. Website — clients browse before they call and arrive with a design in mind, so you skip the ‘so what are you after?’ conversation and get straight to quoting. How long does it take for construction-ready drawings?+
The short answer: as fast as possible. Prelims are generally back in 2–3 weeks, construction drawings in 3–4 weeks. It depends on complexity, size and whether we’re working from our plans or yours. Timeframes vary depending on what’s on our plate — peak periods like the Christmas shutdown can cause a backlog. We’ll always tell you upfront where you sit. Scale subscribers go to the front of the queue.
Can you create variations of one house design for me?+
Absolutely — it’s something we do a lot. Whether you need facade changes, layout tweaks, different configurations for different lots or accessibility modifications, we handle it all. Volume builders use variations to run multiple versions of the same base design across a project. Custom builders use them when a client loves a plan but needs it adjusted for their block, budget or lifestyle. Brief us on what needs to change. We handle the drawings.
What’s included with drafting, and can I use my own plans?+
Absolutely — we work from our plans or yours. What you get: floor plans, elevations, site plans, sections and DA-ready documentation. Everything you need to get on site, except the DA submission itself; that’s over to you. Custom builders bring their own designs, volume builders often use ours. Either way the process is the same — one brief, one point of contact, construction-ready drawings back to you as fast as possible.
